Google has recently added many new features to its Androidapps and services. And today it’s the turn for Google Chrometo receive some new features. Google Chrome can now download the relevant news articles based on your interest and location over Wi-Fi so users can access those articles later when there is a limited or no connectivity for internet. The content will only be download on unmetered and free Wi-Fi networks. This feature is very useful for countries like India where people use their limited data plans to access the internet.
Since Google Chrome will download these article based on your interest automatically and does not allow users to choose the articles they want to keep for offline reading, it can be a hit or miss situation for the user.
Google is targeting this new feature at emerging markets like India and 100 other countries including Nigeria, Indonesia and Brazil.
On a related note, Google has added a bunch of new features to their apps like Google Maps, Assistant and YouTube. Following the Digital wellbeing footprints Google has recently updated their YouTube app with “Take a Break” feature and as the name suggests, reminds users to take a break after a certain amount of time.
To use this feature, open YouTube app and go to settings, after this tap on general settings and open ‘Remind me to take a break’ option and set the desired time for the reminder.
At Google I/O 2018, Google announced a feature termed as ‘Digital Wellbeing’, to help the users to get rid of smartphone addictions. This feature includes Dashboard, app timer, Do Not Disturb and wind down.
